Those who are interested can check out the application here. It reads:

This workshop will be held one Sunday morning per month in the MAC. The teacher is a very well known director and actor supported by a team of professionals. We are looking for 24 students who are very interested in film making and want to help produce a film that will actually be shown in a film festival at the end of the year (if it is good). You don’t need to have your own camera, but it is helpful. The first workshop dates are as follows. Dates for the spring have not yet been determined. Students will work in groups of 3 and each will have a title. There will be 8 groups of 3. In between the workshops, students work independently with their groups.

The 24 students in grades 9-12 will work on a film that will be shown at a festival. Franco has taught at NYU, USC, UCLA and CalArts. He was always part of these schools’ Film or English departments.

The Spring Breakers actor has an interesting relationship with Palo Alto, California. This is where he was born and graduated from the same high school in 1996. Moreover, in 2010, Franco wrote a book called Palo Alto, a collection of short stories about teenagers dealing with vices and their families. A film directed by Gia Coppola starring Emma Roberts and Franco himself was released in 2014.
