This is so f*ed up. This is what I found out on another blog, not sure if it’s true but I would like to share it with all of you! The going rate for the new iPhone 3g S sounds great right? Well that is the price for new customers of AT&T, only. For someone with an existing iPhone or AT&T account, the 32GB is priced at $699 and the 16GB at $499. Now that is just what I’ve read off the internet but I’m sure they checked there facts! This is truly horrible for us iPhone advocates.

I don’t think that’s true. I just ordered the 3GS yesterday and I am a current ATT customer, eligible for an upgrade, thought. The phone will be delivered to me on June 19th and I only paid 211.00 (tax included) for the iPhone 3GS 16 GB.

I would like to know when it will become available in Europe. In particular, an “unlocked” version, perhaps from Luxembourg. One of the frustrations of working internationally is that I have to buy a “plan” that locks me to one country. I really need to be able to change the SIM card.

Why is such a piece of leading technology so restricted in its use?

    Why is it so “un-international”?

    cooper you are right

you cann’t get the discounted price if you are nort eligable for upgrade

my contract is not due till 8 months and AT&T won’t give me the discount price (199 or 299$) till i’m eligable for upgrade, but after talking to them on the phone and threating to switch to a different provider, they finally agreed to give me the discount + additional 70$ (total 270$ for the 16GB). so basically i’m paying extra 70$ on the discounted price because i’m not eligable for upgrade. i’m happy with that though

Well guys, I purchased an Iphone 3g last friday. I just heard about the new I phone 3GS today and was P*** that I just used my upgrade to get a phone that is now out dated. I contacted At&T and they said I had 15 days to return my I phone 3g and I would still be able to get the new I phone at t he discounted price. Don’t k now if anyone is in the same boat as me but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Well you should have known that the 3.0 update was coming out soon….it’s been talked about since the begining of the year. So you also should have guessed that there MIGHT be a new phone and waited till they released some kind of word. I am a 1st Gen Iphone user. I thought about upgrading in January because that’s when I was eligible but I had a GOOD feeling that they’d be coming out with new hardware along with their software. So next time you are available for an upgrade keep this in mind.

Same exactly situation for me, I purchased the 3g two weeks beforer the release of the 3gs, I called AT&T and easily enough I returned the phone got the refund and I was able to take advantage of the new plan 16g %213 (tax included) Cant wait for the new one.

actually if you are an existing AT&T costumer you are able to exchange your iPhone as long as you are within the 30 day grace period, they use what is called an even fullfilment, and you only have to pay a 20% restocking fee

I ordered my 32gig whit iPhone last week, the only thing is that you have to pay in advance, and am going the 19th before the AT&T store opens to do the exchange

  6. john says:

will i have to return my iphone 3gs if i stop my contract after 2 months for now?
will i have to pay any fine?
