Vanessa Hudgens Dumps Photoshop In ‘Unretouched’ Bongo Ads

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens says no to Photoshop in new unretouched and unfiltered Bongo ads that surfaced online this week.

In a world where it’s increasingly difficult to distinguish the real from the fake, Spring Breakers actress Vanessa Hudgens is opting for an extra dose of authenticity. Hudgens who is 25, and has been working with Bongo clothing for over a year now said no to Photoshop during the photo shoot for the brand’s latest ad campaign.

The pictures were taken by Marley Kate and they were not altered in any fashion which means unfiltered and unretouched. The result is stunning, Vanessa Hudgens looks great au-naturel. The Beastly star is using this opportunity to inspire girls and young women, pushing them to believe that real beauty does not require any artifice.

In a press release Vanessa Hudgens thanked the company for standing by her decision to go Photoshop-free and praised their commitment to bring forth a positive message to teenagers and young adults. Bongo clothing also put out a statement where it encourages girls to embrace and feel more comfortable in their skin.

The decision to use unretouched images for Bongo’s fall ad campaign is a big PR win, the media coverage has been almost unanimously positive. The move also cast a positive light on the Machete Kills star who is slowly establishing herself in Hollywood as a promising talent who was able to navigate her post Disney career without too much drama.

While other stars who started at a very young age like her are grabbing headlines for all kind of offenses, Hudgens is building a brand based on realness and steadiness. For example she has been dating “The Carrie Diaries” actor Austin Butler, for over two years now. Butler will turn 23 on August 17. These new Bongo ads sans Photoshop are trying to capitalize on this solid foundation.

The ads will be featured in fashion magazines starting next month and this marks Vanessa Hudgens’ second campaign with Bongo. On January, 9, 2015 Vanessa will return to theaters with the release of horror flick Kitchen Sink also starring Denis Leary and Ed Westwick.
