Elizabeth Smart Engaged
Elizabeth Smart Engaged – Elizabeth Smart, 24, who was kidnapped for nine months when she was 14 years old is now engaged. Smart’s future husband’s identity was not revealed.
The young woman wants her private life to remain private but a statement from spokesperson Chris Thomas was issued on her behalf, it read:
“Elizabeth got engaged this past weekend.”
Thomas also said that he expects the wedding to take place in early summer. The engagement news comes almost two years after Smart’s abuser was found guilty in her abduction case.
Brian David Mitchell was convicted and received a life in prison sentence for the 2002 kidnapping and sexual assault that took place in Utah.
Since 2006 Elizabeth Smart has been an activist and advocate for missing children. She made numerous appearances on behalf of this cause, she even testified in front of congress to push the Sexual Predator Legislation.
In July 2011, Smart joined ABC News as a commentator.
