Elisabeth Hasselbeck is shocked and so are millions of people. Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy announced earlier this week that they were leaving ABC daytime talk show “The View” without telling their fans why they reached such decision.
The news of their exit surprised many, although close sources insist they got fired because the alphabet network wanted to add new blood to a show that will welcome a change of pace.
Former “The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck who got axed one year before and is now working on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” was asked to comment on the recent developments.
Hasselbeck who had a warm relationship with Shepherd expressed shock and said she was looking forward to reaching out to her friend in the upcoming days. She explained:
“I was shocked, in some ways. I’m sure, even though you think that might happen someday, I’m sure it would come across to be a shock. I haven’t spoken to her in person yet. Set to happen though.”
Whoopi Goldberg is the only host assured to come back to “The View” when it returns for a new season. Rumors have Rosie O’Donnell making a comeback on the show, she was fired after one season in 2007. Laila Ali is also being considered.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck who had a rocky work relationship with O’Donnell thinks that the comedian could be an ideal pick this time around, he stated:
“I think it’s great because Rosie likes to box, so that combination that we mentioned would work out quite well.”
Our sources tell us that Candace Cameron-Bure could also be added to the panel. Her appearance earlier this year on season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars” reintroduced her to the country. Cameron-Bure reached third place on the televised dancing competition and appeared on “The View” several times in recent weeks.
Brooke Shields a favorite of executive producer Barbara Walters has been mentioned for years as a possibility but things never materialized. Our insiders tell us they would be surprised if they do this time around.
Angie Martinez and Carolina Bermudez are among the other names being floated out there.
