The Duggar family issued a statement after TLC officially cancelled their record-shattering reality series, 19 Kids and Counting. 19 Kids and Counting was dumped about a month after documents leaked revealing that the Duggar family was involved in a very disturbing sex scandal.

About 12 years ago, when Josh Duggar was about 13 or 14 years of age, he molested multiple girls, including his young sisters, sometimes as they slept. Instead of contacting the authorities, the Duggar patriarch and matriarch opted to send their son to the Institute in Basic Life Principles, a sect-like facility where he took part in prayers and carpentry classes to be cured.

After attending the seminar, the young Duggar returned home, and the story was swept under the rug until 2006 when the family was invited to The Oprah Winfrey Show. An anonymous source emailed Harpo Studios and called the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline to reveal the secret that family was hiding.

Oprah cancelled the interview and authorities were not able to file any charges because the state’s three-year statute of limitations had run out. In 2008, the Duggar clan landed on TLC and stayed there for ten seasons until June of 2015 when the family secret leaked prompting the network to pull the episodes of the show off the air.

The family appeared on Fox News and tried to explain that the so-called therapy had worked, but the Internet lit up with thousands of tweets demanding the cancellation of the show. On July 16, 2015, TLC issued a statement explaining that the reality program was officially canceled. The Duggars made the following statement:

While a vast majority of people are wondering, why did it take TLC so long to dump the TV show? Others are calling them hypocrites for jumping on the Caitlyn Jenner/transgender train with their new show called All That Jazz, a program about 14-year-old Jazz Jennings, a famous advocate for trans teens.

What are your thoughts on the Duggar family’s statement?

  1. Hipocrites all, TLC willput trash like all that Jazz on thier station and promote Caitlyn Jenner and then have the nerve to condem the Duggars. TLC will never be turned on in my house again. So I miss alot of programs I used to watch, its better than promoting something so wrong. This will not work out well for TLC

  2. This was the wrong way to handle the Duggar case. TLC should have not renewed their contract and SHOULD have taken Jaosh Dugger off, when the news first came out. Now we have to see and hear all about the man/she. That is wrong also. God made Mr.Jenner a male. The minute he opens his mouth to talk, that voice makes him sound like a drag queen. That’s really what it has come down to. Now you target a program for young kid’s, on a drag queen, to make money for TLC. Shame on you.

  3. The Duggar’s handling everything wrong with their son. However; their second interview made it all worst. God heals, and once a crime was committed, TLC had to cancel as for the All that Jazz, there is nothing criminal about being transgender, so I don’t see the comparison. The Duggar’s will have to all get jobs and get back to real life. I won’t miss that religious bunch of kooks.
