Cruise Ship Stranded: Carnival Splendor Update – The Carnival Splendor recently had a slight change in their itinerary that threw all of the passengers and crew for a loop. The ship sustained a fire in their engine room, which meant that the ship was left drifting in the ocean without any power. The latest news that has been sent out, is that emergency tugboats have reached the cruise ship and are now towing it to safety.

According to officials, the ship is scheduled to reach San Diego, California sometime on Thursday afternoon. There are provisions being put into place for all of the 3,299 passengers on board, and they will all be transported to Long Beach, California, which is where they departed from.

The ship was left without sufficient food, since the refrigerators were no longer working after the power went out. Because of this, the Navy is airlifting in boxes of crab meat, croissants, and Spam for the passengers and crew to eat while they are waiting to arrive. A spokesman for the cruise ship company said that the passengers are doing well, and so are the crew.
Passengers will be compensated with a full refund of their cruise fare, along with another free cruise.
