Buffy and Willow party together, and fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer could not be happier. Actresses – Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan – reunited in Santa Monica over the weekend. This happened almost 12 years after the television series ended.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan got together in California on Saturday, and the Internet has decided to dub the reunion, the “Buffy & Willow Party.”
On May 20, 2003, Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired its final episode “Chosen,” and close to five million people tune in to say goodbye. The show became a fan favorite and developed a cult following. It paved the way for Angel, a spin-off that did not have the same kind of success.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer continued in comic books and a movie was said to be in the works. This project never materialized despite the backing of Joss Whedon, the creator of the television series, who became a big player in Hollywood.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, the star of series, has never expressed any real interest in a TV reboot or a movie. Earlier this year, the Ringer actress officially came out against the idea of making a film. Although, she did not close the door entirely, it was pretty close. The 38-year-old mother of two said:
“What people don’t realize—they forget Buffy was a failed movie. Buffy didn’t work as a movie.”
Since a revival seems out of the question, fans can find solace in these improvised “reunions” that surface on social media from time to time. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan met at Michaels few weeks ago and had a “lovely time.” The moment apparently led to an invitation to Hannigan’s daughter, Keeva Jane Denisof‘s birthday party; the child turned three on Saturday. Gellar took to Instagram to praise her host, she wrote:
“So this girl (#AlysonHannigan) and her husband (#AlexisDenisof) know how to throw a party. I thought I was good with the crafts, till I went to this party #CraftMaster Thanks for having the #PrinzeFamily I’ve never seen a farm and pony rides in Santa Monica before #NowIveSeenItAll.”
The message came with a cute photo of the two ladies smiling. A different image was posted on Twitter. The “reunion” pictures have gone viral, and supporters are thrilled. Hannigan, 41, is married to her Buffy the Vampire Slayer costar, Alexis Denisof, and they have two children. They met on the set of the show and wed in 2003. Gellar and her husband, Freddie Prinze, Jr., 39, tied the knot in Mexico in 2002 and have two children together.
