At 91, Bob Barker is going strong and is doing what he does best – fight for the animals he loves, despite a recent fall. In a brief statement issued by Barker’s pal and publicist, Henri Bollinger, it was revealed that on Tuesday, he fell while taking a stroll near his home in California.

The former Simon Says and Price Is Right host walked on uneven pavement, which led to him stumbling and injuring the front of his head. The fall also caused minor injuries to Barker’s leg and knee.

According to the longtime spokesman, two police officers patrolling nearby, called an ambulance and the famous animal rights advocate was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he received stitches for the head wound and his leg was treated.

Barker was released the same day, and several pictures of him with a large bandage on his forehead emerging from the hospital have surfaced on the Internet.

Bollinger went on to add that while the injuries are not serious, Barker was advised by his physicians to stay off his legs – a piece of news not well received by the TV icon. Bollinger shared:

“He’s upset he can’t work out and take his walks. Considering his age, he’s in pretty good shape.”

Barker, who bid adieu to The Price is Right in 2007 after 35 years as host, has remained busy as an advocate for animal rights. He has been working with United Activists for Animal Rights and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society since 1979.

In a recent interview with Uinterview, Barker stated that he is hoping that one day, all zoos will be closed in favor of animal sanctuaries. Barker said:

“The animal rights movement is just like huge snowball on a mountain. Americans love their pets, so it’s just a matter of making people aware. They don’t know how other animals are suffering,” “I think zoos should be a thing of the past. They should have animal sanctuaries. The use of animals in movies is just terrible. They have been mistreated for years.”

Get well soon Mr. Barker! So many beloved dogs are counting on you.
