Ashton Kutcher Twitter Drama Shows Danger Of Open Web For Celebs
Ashton Kutcher Twitter Drama Shows Danger Of Open Web For Celebs – And this is the reason why celebrities’ opinions on important things do not matter.
Last night, Rick Perry was not the only one who had an oops moment that he will forever regret.
Like the forgetful Texas governor would say ‘Two And A Half Men’ star Ashton Kutcher stepped in it on Wednesday evening when he had the brilliant idea of tweeting to his 8 million + followers that he was angry that Joe Paterno was fired for his old age.
He naively tweeted:
“How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste.”
Ashton Kutcher who stopped watching CNN since that whole Twitter competition few years ago was unaware that Joe Paterno aka one on the most hated men in America at the moment was dropped from being the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions not because of his age, but because he was told that his devil of an assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was raping/molesting/sodomizing a young boy 10 years of age and did nothing about it.
Now back to uniformed Kutcher, he was blasted by his followers for being ignorant and cruel.
The avalanche of nasty and angry responses has pushed the star to quit Twitter and hire professional writers to write his posts.
The clueless TV personality explained his decision to leave the social media website in a post on his blog – which he still runs for the time being (therefore expect another major gaffe any time now).
A collection of over 8 million followers is not to be taken for granted. I feel responsible for delivering an informed opinion and not spreading gossip or rumors through my twitter feed. While I feel that running this feed myself gives me a closer relationship to my friends and fans I’ve come to realize that it has grown into more that a fun tool to communicate with people. While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk I’m going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst Media to ensure the quality of it’s content. My sincere apologies to anyone who I have offended. It was a mistake that I don’t think will happen again.
While we have no idea why Ashton was giving his opinion on current events, but after his big mess up, he should have done what Perry did, man up, apologize, call his cable company and add networks like CNN, MSNBC to his package, verify his infos before posting and keep the authenticity that he had with his fans.
One former follower called him Twitter Quitter and that is an ugly look even on Ashton.
