Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal are back together for another project and fans of the iconic stars are thrilled. In 1970, the classic romantic drama entitled Love Story written by Erich Segal, who was also the author of the best-selling novel of the same name was released.

The Arthur Hiller-directed film starred O’Neal, MacGraw, John Marley, Ray Milland, and Tommy Lee Jones. The tear-jerking movie, which cost only $2.2 million, brought in $136,397,186 million in America and another 30 million dollars in Canada. At the time of release, Love Story was the 6th highest grossing film of all time in the US. The movie, which was partially shot on Harvard’s campus follows:

Oliver Barrett IV played by Ryan O’Neal , a wealthy jock from a stuffy WASP family on his way to a Harvard degree and a career in law . . . Jenny Cavilleri played by Ali MacGraw , a sharp-tongued, working-class beauty studying music at Radcliffe . .

The pair falls in love and despite Oliver’s family disapproval, they get married and try to start a family, which is when Oliver is informed that Jenny is terminally ill and dies. As stated above, the film became cult and gave birth to a sequel, Oliver’s Story in 1978, starring O’Neal with Candice Bergen.

This week, Ali MacGraw, 76, who looks like she is 40, and 73-year-old Ryan O’Neal reunited at Harvard University, the same spot where their characters first met and strolled around as photographers and students took pictures.

To make sure the reenactment was perfect, the duo arrived in an MG convertible, reminiscent of their car in the movie. Later that day, the Just Tell Me What You Want actress joined O’Neal in New York to promote their new project – the stage production of Love Letters, a tale of first loves and second chance.

The A Lovely Way to Die actress explained that she reconnected with O’Neal, and the chemistry is the same. The star said:

“Ryan and I clicked immediately. I just think we have a chemistry and a caring for each other. We still feel the same about each other. Ryan is so funny, so good and he is such a star, that I am terrified and excited to be reunited with him on stage.”

O’Neal added:

“Working together again is a dream come true. Ali is an original. She is giving and sensitive to others, and we have never had an argument or cross word all of these years.”

MacGraw, who was once married to Steve McQueen and battled alcohol and drug addictions, claimed that yoga is the secret to her fountain of youth.
